this year, given my mysterious deadlines, was maybe the first year ever that i didn’t
mind so much the new year. instead, i spent 9 hours in {nice!} meetings, and half
an hour later d. and i took the very last bus to a friend’s place in the country, the
midnight station arrival.
i can’t think of anything nicer we could have done for my two days off, before
returning to make deadlines all over again in the stuffy studio heat. we read and
drew in the paddock, drew out pretty much the whole next year’s shows & projects,
swam in the ocean with the best dog in the world, flew kites and invented about a
billion amazing drinks.

sometimes, the nicest thing about the start of the year, isn’t so much the holiday
time, as the time to spend lots of late nights in the studio working without many
e-mails or phone calls or meetings to answer.
i wonder if you might guess what i’m working on this week? xm.
